The book I am reviewing is called Dork Diaries Tales from a Not So Graceful Ice Princess. It is a great book for kids. The author of this book is Rachel Renee Russell. I would recommend this book for ages 9-13 because it has some mature words in it (like heck, OMG and idiot). The book is 368 pages long. The book is 31 chapters long. And get this...it is the #1 best-selling series in New York!

At the beginning Nikki gets a phone call when she's in the shower. But, her little sister Brianna comes down the hallway and starts banging on the bathroom door. "NIKKI YOU HAVE A PHONE CALL!" yelled Brianna. "OK WHO IS IT" yelled Nikki? I won't give away too much. But then, Nikki comes out of the shower dripping soapsuds. "Hello"? She says nervously waiting to see who it is. "Hey Nikki it's Brandon," says Brandon. Nikki thought to herself OMG Brianna said to my boyfriend I'm a crusty eyed, hairy legged, FREAK! "Hey Brandon, it's Nikki." "Hi Nikki so, I was wondering if you wanted to come to my birthday party in a couple weeks?" asked Brandon. "YES!" said Nikki. "Ok" said Brandon.

My favorite part about this book is Christmas morning. When Chloe, Zoey, Brianna, Nikki's mom and dad, and Nikki all open their presents. And Nikki's mom and dad both open their present together from Nikki and Brianna and their parents love it a lot. It's a scrapbook of Nikki and Brianna's life memories. The parents keep saying "Thank you Thank you".

I gave this book 5 stars because I love the author Rachel Renee Russell. She is a wonderful author who makes things funny. I recommend this book because it has a lot of enthusiasm in it. She makes things come alive. And I also gave this book 5 stars because this book is one of my favorites out of the whole series. In my opinion it is the longest and funniest. You should try reading one because I think you will like it.

More books by this fantastic author Rachel Renee Russell are Dork Diaries #1 Tales from a Not So Fabulous Life, #2 Tales from a Not So Popular Party Girl, #3 Tales from a Not So Talented Pop Star, #5 Tales from a Not So Smart Miss Know It All, and #6 Tales from a Not So Happy Heartbreaker. I actually think I enjoyed this book the most! It's SO funny, and you won't BELIEVE what Brianna does. Like, when your a little past the middle of the book, your literally gonna puke of laughter! I'm SO not lying! This book truly deserves its 5 stars!!!!! :)

spectacular artist shares knowledge

I'm not sure what the advantage is of a review about a book that is not available for purchase but, I give one anyway. I purchased my copy in 1984 when it first appeared. I have treasured it for these past 26 years through many moves about the country. I wouldn't part with it as it increased my ability to create gorgeous paintings. I had studied at two universities and chouard art institute in LA. but I couldn't paint like this, Windberg , until I got this book. I can paint anyway I desire but, to paint this way enables me to paint a painting with such exact detail and exquisite lighting that it is very much out of the ordinary. If you are an experienced painter with enough talent to create in realism, you will want the information shared in this book. Sadly I'm not sure how you are going to get a copy. the reason I'm here is I wanted to buy a copy for a talented young friend.

Sitting beside a large white rock, she imagines that it is an egg that hatches into a big shaggy creature, reminiscent of a woolly mammoth. Although the animal disappears into the earth when the fog lifts, the image lives on as Nessa shares her story with her grandmother and other listeners. In addition to highlighting the importance of storytelling in the Eskimo culture, this eloquently told tale also describes egg gathering, the use of sealskin boots and a skin pack, and the behavior of some tundra animals. The informative author's note cites a collection of legends from a variety of Arctic cultures as her inspiration. The words are simple, yet the images and sounds they create are vivid and powerful. The main part of each thin black-line-bordered watercolor illustration fills the right side of each double-page spread and spans across the center. Some of the artwork flows over the borders and spills off the page. The soft, cool colors in a variety of pastel pinks, blues, purples, greens, and browns blend into scenes both realistic and imaginary. The images of the curling fog rising from the ground and lifting with the appearance of the sun are almost magical. An auditory and visually appealing read-aloud and a challenging but thought-provoking story for older children.

About the Author
Adirondack Author Paul Laskey has been a long time member of the Adirondack Mountain Club. He has spent many years hiking the Adirondack Mountains and traveled throughout many parts the United States hiking and seeking adventure. After joining the Hadley Mountain Fire Tower Committee many years ago he developed a keen interest in Fire Towers and their History. For the past several years he has been doing talks and slide shows on this subject. In 1999 he decided to write a book on all the towers that remained standing in New York State. He states, There were several tower books out at that time, and interest in the subject was growing. No book was published on all the states towers, so I felt the timing was right and there was a market for that book. I was correct, response has been fantastic, it's selling better than I thought possible.

Why chase fire towers? Think why they're there. The best way to set up fire observation towers would be to make them gloriously high, with a grand view - better yet if they're somehow accessible from civilization down below. That's what we get with the towers and their mountain hosts described in Paul Laskey's "Survivors That Still Stand Guard." There's the history and the lore, and the fascination with a peculiar kind of structure erected far away from any road. Too bad the guys hauling up all that the steel, snapping together these erector-set steel towers way up on New York's out-of-the-way faraway mountain tops, didn't figure they'd be soon be rendered obsolete by planes years later. Ah! -- but they're a great excuse for a little exercise, to find that perfect charming picnic spot with a beautiful view, helped along by a high silvery metal tower ... and maybe to reminisce a little about the stories of New York's mountains as they were long ago. Get this book -- catch fire tower fever -- get out and climb those mountains!

Awesome book on HIIT

I enjoyed readuing this book. Especially with summer just around the corner, I need to get in shape and this book has a detailed method to do just that. HIIT stands for High Intensity Interval Training. The author who specializes in Exercise and Nutition Science and Sports Sciences will describe everything you know even if you are a beginner to plan and do your HIIT . I especially like that he gives lots of scientific explanation for this type of training. There are several examples of workout including warm-up, and cool down. There is also an example of a 8 week program overview . There are plenty of workouts tips and stratefies to use for your specific situation including the importance of goal setting, self-assessment fitness test. There is a whole section on nutrition you can use when doing HIIT.

Overall, the book is well presented and very comprehensive. If you are interested in HIIT, I highly recommend reading this book.

Great workouts! Highly effective!

This books has helped me discover a very effective workout regimen – High Intensity Interval Training. A perfect exercising course that perfectly suits my body, HIIT combines high and low intensity (the ‘interval’) bouts of exercising. The health benefits of HIIT, along with its low cost, makes the method particularly appealing to me. Another advantage is that this book covers the topic in depth, so I do not need to consult any other source for information. Great work by Steve Ryan, will recommend this to friends!

To the point book about HIIT. I really enjoy High Intensity Interval Training as I prefer to have quick workouts as I don't have 2 or 3 hours per day to work out. Great points and information throughout this book including heart rates and training / recovery zones. Recommended for those with less time but want to work out with effective results.

Grade 4-6–Barry wakes up one morning and finds that he is turning into a dog. Well, not quite. He's a boyhound, human on the outside, but definitely canine within. He thinks the change is rather cool. Dogs don't have to wear clothes, they can eat practically anything, and they don't have much in the way of responsibility. Of course, since he doesn't actually look like a dog, his family and friends have no idea that Barry has undergone this transformation. So, when he chases the cat, sniffs a strange woman's rear end, and bites his best friend, they figure that he has simply gone crazy. The wild action is funny, but the rambling narrative is somewhat difficult to follow. The author often interrupts the story to speak directly to readers, and there are many side comments, non sequiturs, and tangential footnotes. The inset photos, drawings, and diagrams often depict these peripheral points. There is considerable bodily function and gross-out humor as well. Adults may find all this rather distasteful, but middle grade readers–especially boys–with a penchant for off-the-wall humor, may enjoy Barry's misadventures.–Elaine E. Barry, Boyhound

Barry, Boyhound was a very interesting and funny book to read. It is one of those stories where you would hate to be in that situation, which makes everyone enjoy reading it. For some reason people enjoy reading about things that other people do that they would hate to happen to them, so this book would be very popular. It is very funny and I had a laugh while reading it. The little parts with the fleas are very cute! It is a perfect gift for kids.

Middle readers will love it

I work at an independent children's bookstore and read book after book looking for great ones to recommend to our customers. I found this book to be hilarious, uniquely written with comical asides and story related facts, and I'm quite positive 3rd to 5th graders (boys especially) will love this. The voices of the two fleas residing on Barry's head during the course of his "canine problem" added a fun element to the story also. I definitely recommend it.

My 9 year old, Luke is an avid Non-Fiction reader.I,on the other hand,am a fic type girl. You mix the two perfectly and hilariously and with the exact perfect spot on amount of gross and action. What more could a mom and son ask for, I ask you? Plus get your website up. Come on, lets get crackalackin there Andy!!!

Incredible anatomy text

Clinically Oriented Anatomy is, without a doubt, the best anatomy text I have come across thus far. And at this point, I've got a shelf full of anatomy books. The writing is very clear and in nearly every passage, easy to follow. Sometimes the descriptions get a bit confusing if you aren't comfortable yet with anatomical orientation (superomedial, aborad, etc) but that will come with any anatomy text - it's part of the process of learning anatomy. The passages are far more easy to read than Gray's Anatomy for Students, and the blue box clinical correlates and sectional summaries do an excellent job tying things together. At the end of a given section, I always find myself coming away with a very solid understanding of the material I've just read.

It has been mentioned in other comments that the illustrations are not the best. And I agree with that. But this is a text, not an atlas, and therein lies the difference. The illustrations are meant to provide general orientation and understanding. The illustrations in Gray's Anatomy for Students are generally better than in this book, but they pale in comparison to any of the real atlases out there in content and detail. For true details and spatial comprehension, you need a real atlas. I'm preferential to Thieme for illustrations (the neurovasculature illustrations are just incredible) and Rohen for photographic images.

Combine a great text with one or two great atlases. That's the only way to truly learn anatomy.

I don't see how this book has almost five stars. In my first semester med school anatomy class everyone had this textbook (as it was recommended by the school). After the first month maybe 2 students still used it (out of 100 students). If you already know your anatomy and have a strong background, then this book will be great. If you are new to the game then all you really need is the gray's students edition for the introduction, the netters atlas for clarification, and the brs for details.

Dont be fooled by the whole 'clinically oriented' part, it's not as great as you think. The brs will explain these same fractures/diseases much faster and clearer...on top of that the brs online aspect supplies MANY more questions. AVOID.
